Welcome to Christ Baptist Church of Rutherford County. We are pleased you are viewing our website and would love for you to come worship with us.

The first three questions that are often asked when looking for a church are who are you, when do you meet, and what do you believe?

Who are we?

We are a new church that has been started by a partnership with Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church, Shelbyville, TN and Anchored in Truth Ministries of Grace Life Church, Muscle Shoals, AL. After 10+ years of praying and seeking the Lord’s will, we began meeting in March 2016 on Sunday nights at the Murfreesboro Board of Realtors on Butler Drive under the name Grace Life Church of Murfreesboro, TN.

Our current location, 2419 Midland Fosterville Road, was formerly known as Lebanon Campgound Church. It is a church with a rich history originally founded as the Middleton Meeting House in December 1847. It was the meeting place for congregations that included Presbyterians, Baptists, and Methodists, but in September 1957 it became a part of the Upper Cumberland Presbyterian denomination. In 1959 the congregation voted to dissolve their membership with the Upper Cumberland Presbyterian denomination and become a non-denominational church.

With declining membership over the last ten years, Lebanon Campground Church began to see that it would no longer be able to continue to meet but desired to see the building used by another church of like doctrine. Through a series of events that we believe can only be attributed to the sovereignty of God, we had a change in leadership in Grace Life Church the first week of July 2017 and the gracious offer of Lebanon Campground Church to take ownership of their building the third week of July 2017. The greatest obstacle our new church faced in Murfreesboro, finding a place to worship on Sunday mornings, was overcome by Lebanon Campground Church. In October of 2017 we began extensive remodeling of the building, and services began in March 2018 with the new name of Christ Baptist Church and with David Brown as senior pastor. We believe that a church rich in history, Lebanon Campground Church, has a new history of reaching the people of Rutherford County as Christ Baptist Church.

When do we meet?

We meet corporately at 10:30 AM Sunday mornings with childcare offered for children through four years old. We offer a blended worship style. Our plans are to expand our worship services and add small groups as soon as possible.

We have bible study on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM.

What do we believe?

We believe that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16). It is the Good News of who Jesus is and what He has accomplished to reconcile sinners to a holy God whom they have offended. The Bible tells us that the salvation of sinners is solely by grace alone through faith alone in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9). Since faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ (Rom. 10:17), we believe that our privilege as ambassadors of Christ is to boldly preach the Gospel to all people everywhere and at all times.

We believe that evangelism is the joyful duty and privilege of every born again follower of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 10:14-17, 1 Peter 3:15-16). It is the act of telling non-believers the good news about what Jesus has done to save sinners, urging them to repent and believe. We are committed to local and global evangelism, as well as the equipping of the saints of God to declare the glorious Gospel of grace.

We believe that the Church is a called out body of believers who profess and give evidence of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that Jesus will build His Church (Matthew 16:18) and that He loves His Church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25). The local church is foundational to the glory of God (Ephesians 3:21, 1 John 3:16). Salvation not only brings you into union with Christ, but also with the Church (1 Corinthians 12:13). According to the New Testament pattern, when someone came to faith in Christ he was added to the local Church (Acts 2:41, 47; 5:14; 16:5). In addition, Scripture reveals that every Christian ought to commit to attend, love, serve, support, & submit to a local church (Hebrews 10:19-25; 13:17). The only proper officers of His church are pastors (or elders) and deacons, whose qualifications & duties are defined in Scripture (Acts 6:1-8, 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9).

We are unapologetically committed to the expository preaching of the inerrant, infallible Word of God. An expositional sermon takes the main point of a passage of Scripture, makes it the main point of the sermon, and applies it to life today. We believe that God’s Word, not the opinion of a preacher, is what convicts, converts, builds up, and sanctifies God’s people (Hebrews 4:12, 1 Peter 1:23, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, John 17:17). Preaching that makes the main point of Scripture the main point of the sermon is best accomplished by preaching through books of the Bible verse-by-verse, line-by-line, and precept-upon-precept.

The doctrinal statement of Christ Baptist Church is the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message which is derived from the New Hampshire Confession of Faith of 1833. We encourage you to read this statement in its entirety and search the related Scriptures. A detailed outline of this can be found on the What We Believe section of this website.
